o highschool ceramics, how i remember you.

hand-built, on a t-shirt covered piece of plywood in my backyard in lieu of canvas or other such amenities. the leaves are stained with iron oxide. the clay and glaze are from Continental Clay, out of Minneapolis. Win H. from Winterboo pottery is the one kind enough to let me use her kiln and help me not make things explode.

Back in highschool, I rented a studio space above the house-turned-coffee shop where I worked. I shared a wonderfully dusty, creaky room with a violin maker. His work did something to my heart. I attempted to capture him and his craft. I’m glad I have this memory.
